Ferndale WWTP Improvements

Project Overview

Wilson Engineering performed the planning, funding, permitting, design, construction management, & operations manual for the Ferndale Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements.  The project consisted of a completely new wastewater treatment plant to replace the City's aging lagoon system.  Features of the new plant included:

  • Design Flows: 4.1 MGD Ave. Day Flow, 11.1 Peak Day Flow
  • Total Cost: $34 Million (Engineering & Construction)
  • Two 3mm Huber Mechanical Fine Screens
  • Two Grit Removal Basins
  • Two Extended Aeration Biolac Basins
  • Capable of Total Inorganic Nitrogen removal below 3 mg/L
  • 30 MGD 6 Pump Mixed Liquor Pump Station
  • Two Ovivo Rapid Sludge Removal Clarifiers
  • Trogan UV Signa Disinfection
  • New Operations, Lab, Disinfection, and Maintenance Buildings
  • Simple operations with minimal staff
